My fiber room

I love my fiber room.. It is centrally located so that I can stay in it pretty much all day and still do other things and be there for the children.. I have a big comfy chair- even though it is ugly. Everything I need to weave, knit, sew, crochet and spin are right at my fingertips!

Woven Dishcloth

I finished my first woven dishcloth! I hope to get faster. All in all it was quicker than knitting.. I will post picture of the washed dishcloth when it gets out of the dryer. It shrunk up a couple of inches- I am glad I went with the 14 inch loom. I enjoyed the process very much and can't wait to start another dishcloth!

2 New Shawls!

I have been busy.. I got my Oregon Coast Shawl done and added a simple single crochet edge.. I love this shawl.. It bled a good deal so the colors aren't as vibrant as they were before I washed it :-(.. but it still reminds me of the water...

Then I started a shawl last Wednesday for my sister. She is going through hard times right now. This is my prayer shawl for her. The fringes still need to be trimmed.. It drapes nicely and is warm- gotta love Lionbrand Homespun yarn.. Nice and thick- hardly any shrinkage.. She is smaller than I am so it will wrap her up in my love and prayers..

I am going to be offering these shawls for sale.. The ones out of Lionbrand Homespun will be $125. The ones out of handspun wool will be $250-$350. I am looking for a spinning wheel- if anyone out there with a extra wheel wants to barter for a shawl please drop me a line! When I get a chance I will have a boutique up on the site but for now I just had to list on this here blog!

Life is good and busy, just the way I like it! Oh! My square loom from Hazel Rose Looms will be here anyday! I can't wait to weave dishcloths!

What's up on the homefront???

On the needles: Rowan's Lynton from RYC Coast.

What is on the loom: My Oregon Coast shawl.. It will be done today!! Yay! Then I think I am going to do a Lionbrand Homespun shawl. I want to experiment with some fringing techniques that I have read about.. the best yarn to experiment with is lionbrand homespun.. Besides my Aunt can use a shawl..
What else is going on: I am waiting on a square loom from Hazel Rose looms.. I will use it to weave dishcloths. I can't wait!!! Something I can do in bed watching tv. My dad's Aunt is coming over tomorrow. I haven't seen my Aunt Fan in 7 years! It turns out she lives right around the corner from us!
I am off to finish my shawl..

2 Shawls Fulled Today!

The first is Kimberly's shawl. The lighter grey fulled much denser than the rest.. Especially along the top of the shawl. It will look great with an awesome shawl pin. I hope she likes it.
The next one is my hug from Lynn shawl. It fulled nicely. It is about 7 ft across. I was worried about how this one would full since it has so many different types of yarn in it but it came together nicely.
I have already started on my Oregon Coast shawl. The yarn has merino in it so I know it will felt easily- so I will have to be extra careful with it. It will be a lighter and lacier shawl than the other 2 that I just finished. I already have my yarn pulled for the next shawl. My friend Tina at http://takeheartfarm.com sent me some lovely yarn in deep shades of pink and green- reminds of Monet's Garden- so that is what it will be called.

Another pic of A Hug from Lynn

A hug from Lynn is done!!

My dear Christian sister Lynn provided the yarn for this shawl. We were doing a granny square swap with handspun pastel colored yarns, we got busy and it fizzled. So I decided to unravel the squares and make a shawl from the yarn.. I love it.. So bright and cheerful..

Now to straighten rows and take off the loom.

Quilt and Fiber Show

Here in my home town... my itty bitty home town. And I met lovely people. They have a quilt group that meets every week that I can go to for a hour or so- I can learn how to quilt. I met a lady named Cindy makes the neatest backpacks- I encouraged her to sell them. I hope she does- cause I want one!! I met Lee- another weaver.. Looking forward to learning more from her in the future. I bought some yarn from a gal I didn't get to meet but the yarn is soft and in colors that remind me of the water- back when we lived in Oregon.. I can't wait to weave a shawl from the yarn..

Let's see if I can get blogger to load some quilt pictures.. My favorite quilt was this one.. Of course I love pink and flowers so it was a given that this would be my favorite..

Here are a few others...
